Department Consumer Behaviour in the Bioeconomy

A warm welcome to the website of the Chair Consumer Behaviour in the Bioeconomy at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Hohenheim!

The department is dedicated to questions of consumer behaviour in the bioeconomy with a focus on market research and marketing. Research focuses on sustainable food packaging, waste separation, recycling, circular economy as well as sustainable protein sources and meat alternatives. The aim is to establish sustainable consumer behaviour and sustainable production patterns along the entire food value chain.

In teaching, the professorship offers courses on consumer behaviour in relation to the bioeconomy. Lectures at Bachelor's and Master's level focus on agricultural marketing and market research in the food sector and agriculture. The teaching profile is rounded off by exciting thesis suggestions. Our department supervises theses closely aligned to current research topics with an application-orientated focus.

In its research, the team covers a wide range of behaviour-oriented consumer research and uses both qualitative and quantitative market and marketing research. The team works together in interdisciplinary teams on many issues in order to do justice to the complexity of the problems. The department complements and strengthens the bioeconomy profile at the University of Hohenheim and makes a particularly important contribution through the consumer perspective.
